Pacific Epoch’s monthly department store update analyzes the sales performance and strategy of China’s leading department store chains. The report includes results from surveys of 300 sales counters evenly distributed among four Hong Kong-listed department store chains, including m-o-m and y-o-y sales growth, promotions, average checkout prices, sales growth by product line and expansion plans. This month, Pacific Epoch analyzes sales in May, typically one of the strongest months for department store sales due in part to China’s Labor Day holiday (May 1-3). In May, Pacific Epoch’s surveys covered Parkson stores in Chongqing, Dalian, and Anshan; Golden Eagle stores in Taizhou, Kunming and Xi’an; New World stores in Wuhan, Shanghai, Dalian and Anshan; and two Intime stores in Jinhua and one in Hangzhou.
