The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) will begin promoting terrestrial high-definition digital TV nationwide, and begin broadcasting HDTV programs in eight cities: Beijing, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenyang, Tianjing, Qinghuangdao, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen before the 2008 Olympics. China will broadcast the Olympics Games in HDTV and expects to generate sales revenue of RMB250 billion from HDTVs and related products in 2010.
LG China began large-scale production of DTVs that do not require a set-top box on February 25, reports Information Times. The company plans to begin nationwide sales of the TVs in March.
