NDRC: Chinese New Year Travelers to Hit 2.8b

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) expects the number of travelers during the peak travelling season surrounding the 2011 Chinese New Year holidays (February 3-8) will reach 2.85 billion, up 11.6% compared to the previous Chinese New Year festival, Beijing Business News reported December 30. The government estimates the peak transportation season as the 40 days from January 19 through February 27, according to the report.
