Mobile Phones: Last Bastion of Questionable Content?
China plans to clean up porn and other "low-brow" content spread via handsets, reports chinanews.com.cn quoting a meeting held on Wednesday by seven government departments. By January 21, 1,250 websites had been closed and 3.2 million pieces of information had been deleted for disseminating questionable content.
The meeting was convened by the State Council Information Office, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Culture, the State Administration for Industry & Commerce (SAIC), the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and the General Administration of Press and Publications (GAPP).
