GCL-Poly Q1 Output Tops 3,000 Tons

GCL-Poly Energy Holdings (3800.HK) produced 3,112 metric tons (MT) of polysilicon in the first quarter of 2010, representing a year-on-year increase of 184.5%, according to a company announcement released April 29. The company reported that it maintained gross profit margin of its polysilicon business at around 30% in the quarter.

GCL-Poly also said it expects its polysilicon output for 2010 to reach 16,500 MT, double the volume of last year and that predicted that polysilicon production costs would decline to about $30 per kg by the end of the year.

The company said in December last year that it was ready to start producing power at its RMB 450 million photovoltaic project in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province.
