“Big 3” Domestic Airliners Slash Agent Fees
Three major domestic airliners have partially reduced commissions for air ticketing agents, yicai.com reported July 5. As of July 3, China Eastern Airlines (0670.HK, 600115.SH) and Shanghai Airlines (600591.SH) cancelled most of the bonuses formerly paid out to ticketing agents for domestic routes originating in Beijing tickets, according to the report. Meanwhile, Air China (0753.HK, 601111.SH) and China Southern Airlines (NYSE:ZNH, 1055.HK, 600029.SH) lowered commission rates paid for ticketing services for selected domestic routes, the report said.
The moves follow similar cuts by international airliners in recent weeks.
