Baidu Appoints Former Yahoo, Excite Executive As Japan President
Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) announced on Friday that it has appointed former Yahoo (Nasdaq: YHOO) Japan search vice president Toshikazu Inoue as president of Baidu's Japanese subsidiary, Baidu, Inc., effective August 1. Toshikazu Inoue served as chief technology officer of Excite Japan for six years before joining Yahoo as vice president in 2004, reports Sohu. The Beijing-based company expects to spend between $20 million and $25 million on Japanese search service development this year.
Baidu, Inc. adopted new domain name baidu.co.jp for its search service on Thursday, reports Sohu. The service was launched at www.baidu.jp in January.
