A-Shares Extend Losses; 4 ChiNext Stocks Fall on Debut
The Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.68% to close at 2,677.43, while the Shenzhen Composite Index weakened 1.17% to end at 1,136.58 on Tuesday, January 25. Trading volumes for the two indices were 6.95 billion and 3.20 billion, respectively.
Smaller banks led financial sector gains. Bank of Ningbo (002142.SZ) increased 1.86%, Industrial Bank (601166.SH) added 1.67%, Bank of Nanjing (601009.SH) improved 1.48% and Huaxia Bank (600015.SH) gained 1.28%. Big-cap banks further drove gains by the sector, with Bank of China (3988.HK, 601988.SH) up 0.94%, China Merchants Bank (3968.HK, 600036.SH) gained 0.79% and Agricultural Bank of China (1288.HK, 601288.SH) advanced 0.39%.
Steel companies strengthened, with Gansu Jiu Steel Group Hongxing Iron (600307.SH), Daye Special Steel (000708.SZ) and Baoshan Iron & Steel (600019.SH) up 4.11%, 3.77% and 2.41%.
Food companies retreated. Yantai Shuangta Food (002481.SZ), Xinjiang Chalkis (000972.SZ) and COFCO Tunhe (600737.SH) lost 9.92%, 5.61% and 4.44%.
Nonferrous metals weakened. YN Lincang Xinyuan Germanium Industrial (002428.SZ), Ningxia Orient Tantalum Industry (000962.SZ) and Zhejiang Hailiang (002203.SZ) declined 8.61%, 5.99% and 6.24%.
Five companies debuted on the ChiNext board today. Analytical and testing apparatus maker Skyray Instrument (300165.SZ), commercial intelligent systems solutions provider Beijing Orient National Communication Science & Technology (BONC) (300167.SZ), video communication company DVision (300166.SZ) and IT outsourcing business Wonders International (300168.SZ) lost 16.68%, 14.2%, 13.39% and 12.14%, respectively, while polymer foam producer Changzhou Tiansheng New Materials (300169.SZ) gained 26.25%. The ChiNext Index lost 1.60% to close at 979.00.
